birthday poetry

here falls no light
were it not for that singular smell
candles toppling sideways in tomato cans
of sun nor stars
softly weeping
see the tentative
my mother twines me roses wet with dew
a look is but a ray
let us pity those who are better off than we are
sleep sweetly in your humble graves
