wedding poem

i am a woman
o fair and stately maid, whose eyes
roses and gold
once this soft turf
since i have felt the sense of death
as evening falls
lived by the river-side
the dawn was apple-green
arched the flood
the darkness
the swan existing
the smell of the rose so false, the thorns so true
