narrative poetry

wrap the earth in cloudy weather
a thin gray shadow on the edge of thought
when i returned at sunset
darkest, strangest mystery
let me be sad
and breaketh bread no more
in your flight
the light withdrawn
i loathed you
all quiet along the potomac
