short love poem

see i give myself to you
are you alive?
uplifting, as the wind blew
music i heard with you was more than music
could we but know
sleep, gray brother of death
when i go back to earth
and breaketh bread no more
afraid no more, i say
were it not for that singular smell
gone are the three, those sisters rare
i said, i have shut my heart
the stars fell from heaven
like him whose spirit in the blaze of noon
