fall poem

therefore i may not
i cannot always feel his greatness
with joy and wonder
green afternoon serene and bright
is there anybody there
she heard the children playing in the sun
have we no shame?
sadly speaking
under dusky laurel leaf
sleep sweetly in your humble graves
