friendship poem

we lay
my true love from her pillow rose
have we no shame?
he's gone
one sweetly solemn thought
they threw a stone, you threw a stone
in may
i've won the race
muffled drum's sad roll has beat
do i like it
see, from this counterfeit of him
this is the arsenal
my son is dead and i am going blind
for truth, for love
