brother poem

when freedom from her mountain height
by the rude bridge
we were not many
with lips blood red and heart of stone
the saddest of the year
daughters of time
we who stood
to some the fat gods
i saw the archangels in my apple-tree last night
i love the old melodious lays
as evening falls
