black poetry

days endeared to every muse
winged shadows sweeping by
sweet and strong
fat black bucks in a wine-barrel room
arched the flood
by the rude bridge
babylon-where i go dreaming
once this soft turf
often i think of the beautiful town
beside a stricken field
