pumpkin poem

when i looked into your eyes
behold me, in my chiffon, gauze and tinsel
in halls of sleep you wandered by
the ancient songs
and breaketh bread no more
what spiteful chance steals unawares
who loves the rain
pushing out, struggling vainly
