romantic poetry

arched the flood
muffled drum's sad roll has beat
my soul is a dark ploughed field
i have come into the desert because my soul is athirst
what do i owe to you
could we but know
with joy and wonder
those on the top say they know you, earth-they are liars
in mournful numbers
gone before us
