spanish poem

a thin gray shadow on the edge of thought
long has the summer sunlight shone
like him whose spirit in the blaze of noon
with the meek, brown eyes
i was a goddess ere the marble found me
for i was a gaunt, grave councillor
i am in love with high far-seeing places
i make my shroud, but no one knows
since, if you stood by my side today
calm as that second summer
lady, your heart has turned to dust
