contemporary poetry

i have seen the proudest stars
tripping up, falling down
those on the top say they know you, earth-they are liars
it was many and many a year ago
beneath my window in a city street
for these white arms about my neck
there was never a sound beside the wood but one
simply speaking
suddenly, out of dark and leafy ways
she heard the children playing in the sun
who will be naming the wind
