family poetry

passing through huddled and ugly walls
had he and i but met
the agony of having too much power
they in the darkness gather and ask
at midnight
to clothe the fiery thought
this is the arsenal
hang no wreath
could we but know
you are beautiful and faded
the light withdrawn
are you alive?
