memorial poem

i fill this cup
if i had known how narrow a prison is love
the fragrance came
the single clenched fist lifted and ready
happiness
and so it goes
there is an hour of peaceful rest
from our hidden places
just as my fingers on these keys
lo! 'tis a gala night
often is it not so?
