friendship poetry

sun and wind and beat of sea
why do
on and on
i saw you hunched and shivering on the stones
in september
i have had one fear in my life
arched the flood
we who stood
from song and dream for ever gone
my mother twines me roses wet with dew
have you not heard
the meadow was creeping
