break up poem

one sweetly solemn thought
when i returned at sunset
it was a tall young oysterman
the light withdrawn
darkest, strangest mystery
lo! 'tis a gala night
under the harvest moon
we were not many
the poets tell
could we but know
had he and i but met
i have seen the proudest stars
