friendship poem

while i stood listening, discreetly dumb
and breaketh bread no more
she said
sadly speaking
and my name is truthful
sweet and strong
there is an hour of peaceful rest
i am weary of being bitter and weary of being wise
if i were very sure
the saddest of the year
are you awake?
