fall poetry

within this lowly grave a conqueror lies
under dusky laurel leaf
a pen of steel
over the river, on the hill
i have had one fear in my life
the ancient songs
have you heard
she heard the children playing in the sun
are you awake?
blossoms of babies
desolate and lone
this ancient silver bowl of mine
gone before us
