romantic poetry

when a deed is done for freedom
for i was a gaunt, grave councillor
i said
what shall we do now
lived by the river-side
i loved a woman
and with the humming bird
i go my way complacently
i am singing to you
the old songs
a gleam of gold in gloom and gray
