free poem

a gleam of gold in gloom and gray
she said
last midnight
god
i saw god. do you doubt it?
who is the runner in the skies
under the harvest moon
stay no more
the stars fell from heaven
we who stood
he'd even have his joke
afraid no more, i say
beautiful
