narrative poetry

you are beautiful and faded
glooms of the live-oaks
i flung my soul to the air like a falcon flying
lo! 'tis a gala night
in their ragged regimentals
if i were very sure
these be
i saw you hunched and shivering on the stones
for truth, for love
